must read if you are a planning to implement Oracle Applications on Exadata

Got this book over the holidays. This book is fantastically written keeping Applications in mind. Exadata has so many components, even the best of DBAs at times, find Exadata bit tricky. The author has done a great job - very succinctly written.

This book covers many topics related to running Applications on Exadata which are not covered anywhere, for example: the chapter leveraging Exadata features contains so many useful tips which are not documented anywhere. Sizing Exadata always used to be a secret, the author does full justice in explaining sizing in a lucid manner.

This book covers everything from Exadata basics to advanced topics like Consolidation, Resource Management, Monitoring, Administering, Backups and so on. The author has dedicated one section with sample commands for CellCLI which is really helpful.

This book is very well researched and well presented. I am very impressed the way this book is written, very much focused, to the point, covering everything about Exadata in an incredibly easy to read fashion.
This book is written keeping Applications in mind, It is a must for anyone who is planning to Implement Applications on Exadata. It has so many awesome tips and techniques of running Apps on Exadata which is not mentioned anywhere else.
The best part is this book is not at all bulky unlike other books which make reading scary. Those who are new to Exadata will find this book Extremely useful. It covers everything on Exadata.

A great starting point

This book is a great starting point if you are considering a cycling trip to New Zealand.
Unfortunately this book is getting old and the road conditions and amenities along the way have changed. But it is still a good timetable for figuring out how long you should think about it taking this cycle the different places in New Zealand.

Useful book, although not essential. Basically biking in NZ is easy because there are only a few roads, once you get out of the cities. The book doesn't have enough detail in it to eliminate the need for maps.... I'd say that reading blogs and getting maps would be a better use of time than getting this book, but it is nice to have a few itineraries suggested.

In February '97 me, my bike, and this book covered 1300 miles of New Zealand. I used this book extensively to plan my route by mixing & matching the routes covered in the book. obtw, in New Zealand you don't need a map, you only have a couple of roads to choose from and this book covers just about everything you need. I highly recommend it and appreciate the effort Bruce put into the book.

Not his best book

I'd rather have one whole JP story than two halves. Couldn't put it down but didn't feel like there was a cohesive finish. Whereas all his other love story genre books made you feel sad you were done because of how great they were. This one made you feel sad because it didn't feel finished or leave you with any worthwhile closure. Tying the two stories together - now that would've been a fun ending!

A True Soul Story

GG's talent as a writer and the way she expresses herself in ways most of us can only dream of, made me an immediate fan of her as an individual and an admirer of her artistry. The introductory connection she made with women of the world through blogging about hair and hair care products on "All the Many Layers", became so much more than reviews about the shampoo and how to do a twist outs, it was the first glimpse into the life of a beautiful soul. As the blog evolved to incorporate a broader offering of her services and showcasing of her talents, so did GG. Shortly thereafter came The Beautiful Disruption and this extraordinary spirit we all knew as GG Rene Hill, became a movement.

If you follow "All the Many Layers", you may recognize some of its posts as you read, The Beautiful Disruption. The story that this book tells of a girl recounting parts of her childhood growing up with a schizophrenic mother, contrasted and entwined with the story of a woman struggling to reconcile heart-break, is another dimension of the author's soul she unveils to her readers, the aspect I loved most. My interest in the book was sustained throughout, as I continuously wondered which parts were real and which were fiction. She does a phenomenal job of ensuring cohesiveness from beginning to end so at no time does it ever feel like you are reading two separate books. There was not much that I disliked about this book, however, by the end, I was left wanting more and wondering what She was going to do next. This could be perceived as a good or bad thing. This book is literally a beautiful piece, from the front cover to the back. I would recommend this book (and the blog), to any person who can relate to being affected by someone managing a mental disorder or physical handicap, any woman who has grappled with heartbreak and anyone interested in getting to know a beautiful soul, the author.

From the moment we made one-another's acquaintance, I was in awe of GG because we had so many things in common, but yet she was everything I wished I was. As soon as the book's availability was announced, I went on line and purchase it. The pride, respect and admiration I feel for her as a human being, a woman and now as an author, has only made me love her more over the years. Congratulations GG, many blessings and continued success. I cannot WAIT to read book 2.

A Must Read!

"The Beautiful Disruption" is an intimate, thought-provoking story about spiritual growth. Life's struggles (especially the internal struggles we face every day) can really wear on you, and sometimes we need a reminder that life is unexpected, it can hurt, it can be beautiful, it can be cruel, it can be kind, and sometimes it takes a soul-stirring event (a disruption) to make us wake up and start taking control. No, we can't predict or control every single thing that happens to us, but there is much that we CAN control, including what we tell ourselves, how we see ourselves, and who we share ourselves with. Find the good in life, the good in yourself, and shine a light on it. That's just a portion of what I got from this book. I can't wait to read more from GG, her writing style really draws you in, she knows how to connect with her readers. Just really, really good.

This book had doozens of mis-spelled words throughout the entire book, it was strange? Not sure if that was a mistake on the authors part or the publisher? I'm a grammar freak so I kept noticing them throughout each chapter and thought it was a bit tacky. A bit shorter than expected, I wouldn't say its worth how much you pay with shipping but other than that, good read to tune into your inner experiences and possible past struggles!

Highly recommended for IAM professionals

Whether you want to familiarize yourself with the identity and access management area, or you are considering improvements in your current identity management solution, this book is an excellent read.

The book gives perspective on both technology and business sides of IAM space with comprehensive terminology and concepts, explanatory diagrams and real world examples. It also contains valuable discussions on how IAM has evolved over the years, common troubles with current implementations, and where IAM is headed.

Must read if you are leading or soon to lead an IAM project

There are many books on Identity and Access Management, but none with the holistic and pragmatic approach that this book brings to the discussion from extensive end-to-end implementation experience in the field solving real world issues. Anyone with an interest in the topic will appreciate this practical and insightful reference to designing and implementing identity and access management solutions that leverage best practices to deliver real business value. One interesting aspect is that there are real world sample work-products included in the book such as IAM build and implementation guides, and run books.

Well written, comprehensive and focused on business enablement

I have had this book for more than 3 months now and have been able to read most of the chapters in this book. This is an extremely well written book and one of the very few books written on this topic.

In the last decade, the area of Identity and Access Management (IAM) has seen a huge momentum shift where an increasing number of security threats as well as regulatory drivers have forced organizations to take a fresh look at how they manage employee access. Even today, many organizations view IAM as a necessary evil to manage certain components of operational risk effectively. However, the author brings a broader perspective to the table where he discusses Identity & Access management as a business enabler that can help organizations improve their business performance (in addition to proactively addressing their regulatory drivers and managing access securely).

The author introduces a comprehensive IAM framework that covers all the key components of IAM and goes on to provide excellent examples of various elements of an effective IAM strategy as well as the latest trends in IAM throughout his book.

Overall, this is a great read and I would highly recommend this book to IAM practitioners,employees looking to introduce an IAM program in their organizations as well as professionals looking to develop skills in this rapidly growing area.

About the Author
James C. Christensen, nicknamed the "Professor of the Imagination," lectures widely on art and creativity, from MBA programs to state art education conferences. The winner of multiple awards from the World Science Fiction Convention and the Association of Science Fiction and Fantasy Artists, he is the subject of five previous books including Voyage of the Basset and The Art of James C. Christensen: A Journey of the Imagination. He lives in Orem, Utah.

Kate Horowitz is a writer, poet, and undefeated-at-home Jeopardy! fanatic. She lives with her husband in Connecticut and has recently replaced her lifelong fantasy of joining the circus with that of running away to join the Christensen family.

Men and Angels: The Art of James C. Christensen

If you want to buy a "whopper" of a book full of great stuff full of color, this is it!!!! There is NO doubt about it. He is AMAZING, NEW, INCREDIBLE AND ORIGINAL, and has old world values with new mix and a little bit of VIENNA. He has studied the old stuff in EUROPE! This is like a grand library book like Leonardo and Raphael, and of a grand size in pages full of color coming out and reaching you like nobody else!!! Any one else, anyone who someone studied him and is an understudy this guy is an original. Because he has been around for a long time and put out TONS of work to a truly AMAZING point. Many of his paintings show study with the love of nature and workmanship in the world of fairy tales and the world past gone. If you want detail, he is your guy. His work is even even humbling with it's figures and stories!!! The paintings are outside the box and tells their own stories with values of impeccable SKILL. This book is a must for collectors, I am glad I have it or I would have really missed something special.

Excellent artwork, extremely well written. Deceptive cover as most of the artwork is completely different.
Look up the artist online before purchasing this book. One of my best books and I have many.
