About the Author
Mr. Robert Dilts has been a developer, author, trainer, and consultant in the field of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, NLP, since 1975. In addition to spearheading the applications of NLP to organizational development, learning, creativity, and health, his personal contributions to the field of NLP techniques of Strategies and Belief Systems, and the development of what has become known as Systenic NLP.
Robert Dilts was head of an extensive study of leadership skills and creativity for Fiat, and a project with the State Railway of Italy involving organizational learning and communications skills for trainers, instructors, and presenters. He is currently leading a project involving the development and application of interactive computer tools for systemic thinking skills and management development with IBM Europe.
He is the principle author of Neuro-Linguistic Programming, Vol. I and has authored mumerous other books on NLP including Changing Belief Systems with NLP and Beliefs: Pathways to Health and Well Being, co-authored with Tim Hallbom and Suzi Smith, which describe his work in changing limiting beliefs and creating functioal belief systems. Tools for Dreamers, co-authored with Todd Epstein, ans Skills for the Future, explore the applications of NLP to manage and enhance creativity.

Great Content

Robert has created a thoughtfull tome that both lays the historical foundations of NLP, and moves into the future of human evolution. Nice sections on generative NLP (not fixing what is wrong, but expanding what is right), the somatic mind (getting resources out of the head and into the body), and the field mind (how to make a relationship more than the sum of its parts).

Kind of a summary of present day NLP

I was more or less disappointed in this book. NLP Volume 2 is about Dilt's style of NLP that's what it's about. The beginning of the book covers time lines, meta-programs, the score model and perceptual positions not to mention Dilt's Neuro-Logical Levels model. The book then moves on to what Dilt's and Delozier appear to call the Somatic Mind and then the Field Mind.

This book is suppose to be referring to what Dilts calls 3rd Generation NLP. I'm at awe with how around this same time Stephen Gilligan is talking about his 3rd Generation Hypnosis and he seems to speak of a somatic mind as well. This is a thick book and is a lot less dry and academic than NLP Volume I. I remember attending a training with a well known trainer and NLP developer and remember his dismay when I brought up the topic of this book. From what I got they really were not happy with this book.

Anyhow I thought the section on the Somatic Mind was interesting with the exception of John Grinder, Tony Robbins and a few other names I really don't see a lot of people talk about using Physiology as a means to create change so that was very cool.

An Incredibly Valuable, Must Have Book for NLP Trainers and Practitioners!

NLP II is a resource i regularly use in my NLP practice because it includes Robert Dilts most advanced and current work and thinking on third generation NLP and includes practices i use daily for myself and with clients. It also lays out the most important processes and practices from the cognitive (first generation) and somatic(second generation) NLP, and is also the only book i know of that thoroughly traces the evolution of the field of NLP.
Everyone can benefit from using such processes as the COACH container to achieve and maintain a state of excellence and presence, the dancing score to make easy and powerful shifts and changes, generating a second skin, and accessing "the field mind"

This book yet again reinforces Robert Dilts position as one of the leading authors, developers and authorities on NLP, and I highly recommend this book and feel its an essential part of any NLP practitioner, trainer or NLP users(for self growth) library

Benjamin Pierce received a BS in Biology from Southern Methodist University, USA and a PhD from the University of Colorado. Ben is currently Professor of Biology and holder of the Lillian Nelson Pratt Chair at Southwestern University, Georgetown, TX. He is a population geneticist who conducts ecological and evolutionary research on amphibians. Ben has authored a number of articles in research journals and several books, including: The Family Genetics Sourcebook, a guide to genetics for the layperson; Genetics: A Conceptual Approach, a general genetics textbook; Genetics Essentials: Concepts and Connections, a brief genetics textbook; and Transmission and Population Genetics: A Short Course, a textbook for courses in transmission and population genetics. Ben is a member of the steering committee of the 21st Century Science Coalition, a group of scientists who support strong science standards for Texas public schools. He is the President of the Texas Academy of Science, is a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Sigma Xi, and is a Fellow of the Texas Academy of Science. He currently serves on the editorial board of Bioscience. He has received research and teaching grants from the Natural Science Foundation, the W. M. Keck Foundation, the 3M Foundation, the National Park Service, the Williamson County Conservation Foundation, and the National Geographic Society.

Pretty good for what it is.

I have the textbook and this is a good solutions manual, but there are key points and concepts that the book will not even mention or will mention in a later chapter that are used in the answers for the practice problems. I find that annoying because it was not mentioned within the chapter but is given as a solution to a problem within said chapter. There are a few typos or printing errors with diagrams, etc. But definitely has helped me to get an A in my genetics course!

I think everybody knows how to play poker.They just don't know how to do it well.That's how I am.You get instructions on the different types of hands poker has and which suit beats other combinations. You will learn the strategy of playing different card combinations.Anther thing that it teaches you is how to learn to spot when other players are bluffing.Each person has different "tells" and if you don't know them you will lose alot.You will also learn the art of how to bluff,which will I crease you chances of winning. There's a lot of them that I sure wouldn't have recognized before I read this book.another strategy to know is when to fold a hand.And the rewards and consequences of not putting down a hand.The book explains t that some good hands need to be folded( once again, that's me,I hate to fold I need) and how to tell which ones.And the most important thing to know,to me at least is how to bet.Without knowing that there's no point in learning everything else.The book breaks down how much to bet on what hand.I was surprised at how easy it was to learn from this book. Whether you are a first time player or have been at it a long time; you will be educated on the ins and out a of the fame.I had no trouble understanding this book and you shouldn't either.I received this product at a discount in exchange for my honest review

Don't be trick by those bluffs. Master the Game!

I don't gamble nor most of my friends but whenever we get together all of my friends know how to play poker except me. They would play with poker the whole night while I become somewhat of their hostess preparing their foods and drinks; making sure everything is alright. I made a conviction to myself that I would learn poker and beat all my friends. So I started studying the game, reading books and watching actual games then playing starting with amateurs to more experience players. My learning curve has been excellent I should say. Thanks on a big part to this book. Everything you need to learn about Poker is in this book but of course you still need actual practice to really master this skill. As the saying goes if you are prepared you already won half the battle; this is what this book will do for you, it will prepare. It will not let you get off-guard or surprise by the tricks of your opponent. Your every hand is calculated and base on tested strategy by master poker players.

My rich friend was a casino addict or better say poker addict. I accompanied her once and while all of them are enjoying I'm trying really hard to understand their terms but I can't really get it. My being out of place at that time pushed me to buy this book.

I began reading the middle part for terminologies and the author did a good job not just on defining each but giving sample sentences as well. For the strategies and bluffs, though I still don't play poker, I can say they are effective and my friend agreed to me as well. She actually read the whole book on my reader and finished it with a burning spirit to win. Well base on how helpful it is to me I'm happy to give this rating.
